Super Saturday 15 Raises a Record $3.6 Million for Ovarian Cancer Research Fund

New York, NY – August 6, 2012– Kelly Ripa, Paula Patton, Donna Karan and Ariel Foxman hosted Ovarian Cancer Research Fund’s (OCRF) 15th annual Super Saturday, presented by QVC, COVERGIRL and InStyle. The event raised $3.6 million for Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, a record amount to date, and hosted 2,500 attendees. Super Saturday 15 took place Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Nova’s Ark Project in Water Mill, New York from 1:00PM – 6:00PM with a special preview hour that began at Noon.

Super Saturday 15 is OCRF’s fun-filled, family-oriented daylong fundraiser, complete with a one-of-akind designer garage sale, kids’ carnival and activities, a luxury raffle and gourmet treats. Once dubbed “the Rolls Royce of garage sales,” the most anticipated element of Super Saturday is the fashion garage sale, which includes merchandise from over 200 prominent designers including: Donna Karan, Theory, alice + olivia, Robert Rodriguez, Diane von Furstenberg, Helmut Lang, AllSaints Spitalfields, Smythson and Ralph Lauren. For the fifth consecutive year, the “Designers A to Zoe” booth by Rachel Zoe featured luxury designers such as Kara Ross, Marc Jacobs, Marchesa, Jean Paul Gaultier and Etro among others.

Once again, OCRF joined forces with leading multimedia retailer QVC® to make this exciting event available to shoppers nationwide. QVC Presents Super Saturday Live aired from 2:00PM – 4:00PM, offering viewers the chance to purchase a variety of products including apparel, accessories, jewelry and beauty with net proceeds benefiting OCRF. In addition, in an effort to continue raising awareness and funds for OCRF, QVC has turned to the social media network to launch a dedicated Pinterest campaign designed to bring even greater support to OCRF’s cause. The multimedia retailer created a Super Saturday board, which includes pins with Lara Spencer and facts surrounding ovarian cancer. Followers are encouraged to repin with a purpose. For every repin, QVC will donate 50 cents, up to $5,000, to OCRF. This campaign will run through September 30, 3012 In addition to incredible shopping, Super Saturday 15 offered attendees an afternoon of indulgences including: a COVERGIRL Beauty Bar, featuring makeup must-haves – expert brand ambassadors were on hand to offer helpful makeup tips, tricks, and touch-ups; the Fresh Beauty Cleanse Truck, featured the best-selling Soy Face Cleanser and deluxe samples to allow you to continue your skincare ritual at home; a place to relax and rejuvenate at the InStyle Cabana; the Color Club Color Bar offered guests manicures, pedicures and nail art; the Aruba Happy Lounge featured Aruba Aloe hand massages and a chance to win a four-night stay in Aruba; Psychic Readings with Betsy Wahmann; and complimentary dry-style hair styling at the Dove Hair and DailyCandy’s Great Style Effect tent. Children at Super Saturday 15 enjoyed rides, games and arts and crafts galore. This summer at Camp Divalysscious kids enjoyed Wendy The Pipe Cleaner Lady, Face Painting, Balloon Artistry, s’mores making and special performances from Miss Pinkie and story book reading of The Super Adventures of Sophie and the City: All in a Day’s Work. Space Odyssey East rolled out the hottest video games available to play in the arcade mecca.

Super Saturday was created in 1998 by Donna Karan and the late Liz Tilberis, believed Editor-InChief of Harper’s Bazaar and President of OCRF. Donna Karan has sponsored and hosted the event since its founding and all net proceeds go directly to OCRF’s research programs. InStyle has been a sponsor and host of Super Saturday since 2001, and Kelly Ripa has hosted since 2004. Beginning in 2007, sponsor QVC has broadcasted live at the event.
