Annie Ellis

Annie Ellis was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 40 in 2004 and is currently enjoying an unexpected 14-year remission after two recurrences, five lines of treatment, three debulking surgeries (the last a partial liver resection) and a phase I remission vaccine clinical trial. She is also a survivor of stage 1 breast cancer. Annie serves the ovarian cancer community as a research advocate with OCRA on the Scientific Advisory Committee.

Annie serves on NCI’s Council of Research Advocates (currently Chair), Patient Advocate Steering Committee (former Co-chair) and Gynecologic Cancer Steering Committee. Annie also serves as a research advocate with FDA, ASCO, AACR, the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, two SPORE Programs. Annie provides peer support through SHARE Cancer Support’s helpline and MSKCC’s Patient to Patient Program with a focus on shared decision-making in the recurrent setting and consideration of clinical trial participation.
