Project Summary
Ovarian cancer is a leading cause of cancer deaths among women. The lack of an effective screening tool for these patients continues to result in a high mortality from the disease. This project, “The Development of a Hypersensitive DNA Integrity Assay to Detect Ovarian Cancer,” is designed to develop and assess a new technology to detect ovarian cancer by evaluating the integrity of DNA in ascites and plasma. By analyzing the length of DNA fragments, it may be possible to distinguish patients with ovarian cancer from patients with benign disease, which may lead to a diagnostic blood test.
